ARKANSAS IMPAIRED WATERBODIES
Updated: 2 October 2018
What's happening now?
-
Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is currently reviewing and responding to comments received during the public comment period. They will issue a responsiveness survey at the time the submission packet for the Integrated 303(d) and 305(b) Report is sent to EPA.
-
EPA will review ADEQ's response to comments, revisions, and justifications before issuing a final action on the 2018 303(d) list.
-
White River Waterkeeper (WRW) will continue to stay in contact with ADEQ and EPA throughout the final review stages. There are numerous concerns with the 303(d) list of impaired waterbodies we are hopeful ADEQ will revise before submission to EPA.
-
In the event ADEQ does not make adequate revisions, provide further justification, WRW will continue discussions with EPA to resolve concerns in hopes of avoiding avenues of legal advocacy.
Timeline
What is WRW doing?
We helped THIRTY-THREE citizens develop their own meaningful comments.
That may not sound like much to some, but in 2014 - only NINE meaningful comments were submitted.
Currently, we're waiting.
This timeline is rather unimpressive at the moment. We lack the funding capabilities to make this more interactive. Become a member or donate today to help us build the capacity to provide you with accurate and meaningful information.
In the meantime, review the past history of where we stand today and previous timelines of ADEQ submissions and EPA approvals and actions on 303(d) lists.
